A Tease

Not that kind, ya creep!

Ahhhh! I made a major change tonight and its killing me not to do a big reveal, but I can’t! I took pictures and there are super weird reflections and I’m just not happy with how they came out, so hopefully daylight pictures will look better.

For now, though, a teaser!

No, that’s not my new kitchen.

Kitchen Details

Ok, I did promise I’d give details on this, and I wrote this blog like a week ago but forgot to hit publish. Sorry about that.

Hubbin’s dad made the doors for us; he’s phenomenal with woodworking, and we really could never have done anything like this without him. As for the other details, I initially bought a can of Moose Mousse in Valspar, which is the color of my office. I knew I liked the color and figured it would look nice, so I bought and painted it, and I was super pleased with it. That’s when this post was made.

And then I started looking for the perfect color blue for Hubbin’s sister’s dining room. While I was only looking for navy, I came across all these colors of blue that I loved, and fell in love with them. Then I started thinking about how boring white cabinets and khaki walls sounded. And the blue sounded way better. I looked for a while, though, because paint colors have undertones that you don’t even see until you compare it with another color you think is the same. I looked for the perfect color slate blue, but hadn’t actually decided on one until I went to the blue store to get paint stuff for the makeover. I looked around, pulled up Pinterest, grabbed a paint chip, and then the paint guy said he could mix paint from another maker. I had him mix two, and got samples…one of Battleship by Valspar, and the other, Storm Cloud by Sherwin Williams.

The Kitchen

Ok, y’all, I am WAY too tired to post more than “here it is before, now look how awesome it is now” pictures. I’ll do details later. (ETA: Click Here for all the details!)

Sorry for the crappy ‘before’ pic.

Yes, the countertops and sink will be replaced. But not tonight. Tonight is for sleeping.

Craziness

So last night I made a Facebook page for this page. I hadn’t felt the need, but I went ahead and did it anyway. I had a ton of likes in a short period of time and was totally blown away! The response was humbling and exciting. I also received two messages about RACKs that others had done, and I nearly cried. What a great experience, not only to write stuff that people read (never a given in blog land, apparently), but to have caused action through that. Action that helped others. That is simply…indescribable. So I thank you. I thank you for supporting me in this venture and sharing it with your friends, too.

See what a huge help Charlotte is?

If you’ll just do me one quick favor and come over and finish my kitchen renovation, I’d appreciate it. Oh. Dear. First of all, Hubbin has been wonderful and is doing a ton of work, and the doors look fantastic and I’m so excited. I will admit that I am more excited about the end result than the work it’s going to take to get there. And that even though I painted the kitchen already, I’m changing the color. And all the cabinets have to be painted, and some have to be cut out, and the whopping two drawers in the entire kitchen are getting Pinterest makeovers as well.

The Office

The office was actually my first redo in the entire house, but I’ve since wanted to do more things to it, so I’ve held off blogging about it. Since we have a tiny house, and since I work from home, and since I never cook, I turned our formal dining room into my formal office when I landed my kick ass job that lets me work from home. It was the most logical of the choices, which included the alternate option of bunking the girls in the same room. That option was way too risky, considering I’d hate for The Little Jerk to rub off on my oldest, who is charming and sweet and not at all mean like her little sister.

Thus began my new office. I outfitted it appropriately last year with furniture, but it was never bright (aside from my obvious brilliance). I am messy and unorganized, but there are certain things that I am very, very particular about. One of the biggest is symmetry, which is why I have a hard time with art. So to be honest, I didn’t even consider art when initially creating my office.

Near Death Experience

So, I’m helping design Jason’s sisters house, now that my decor of my sister’s is nearly done. I need to remember to post pictures; it’s beautiful!

So as I am scouring Pinterest and other home improvement blogs, I’m getting more annoyed with my living room. I hate the color, to be honest. It’s super green. I knew that, actually, when I first rolled it on, but I thought it would dry darker, and it didn’t. So, I’m just living with it.

Or I was, until I kept pouring through thousands of ideas. So, how does this end up a near death experience? When Hubbin got home, I looked at him sheepishly and broke the news that the living room needed a makeover. Again. And if looks could kill….

In the end, though, he only said we need to do the kitchen first. Ok, I can get on board with that. In the meantime, if anyone needs me I will be pinning.
