The Stairs

So we have tossed around the idea of painting our staircase for about a year now. I cannot tell you how much I hate painting trim, though. Love the look. Hate the work.

Hubbin and I have come to sort of a crossroads with regards to the house. It’s zoned Residential/Commercial and located in between two cities. Do we move? If so, what work does the house need? If we sell it residential, it needs a lot of work. If we sell it commercial, they’ll likely tear it down. And where do we move? Do we move to the better school district that is closer to our friends and our church, but farther away from my job, adding to my already long commute? Do we move closer to my job, but farther from everything else?

So Hubbin and I have been in that dance for a while now, which has paralyzed us. It’s now time, though, to get to it. The house needs work, and we might as well do it in the meantime of deciding what we’re going to do or where we will go.

The Office Again. Y’all, I can’t even…

Ok so there have been no renovations since The Bathroom of 2014, and pretty much just Jesus posts, because that bathroom reno made me REALLY NEED JESUS. It has been SEVEN MONTHS since that renovation and I have needed SEVEN MONTHS OF JESUS to undo what it did to my psyche. And also, it’s still not done. I mean, it’s done in that it works and it’s pretty, but it’s not blog-worthy done. But the time has come that I have no choice but to renovate something. And this massive palace is a whopping 1,248 square feet, so you’ll be shocked to hear that it’s a re-renovation of a room we have already done. Twice. But at least it’s not the living room again, amiright?

So once upon a time I had a dining room that we really just used for show, let’s just be honest here. And feel free to click here to see that monstrosity. When I took a job working from home, that room was transformed into my home office. That project was my first ever renovation and was actually what made me start this blog. When I quit that job, though, I didn’t want to see the office anymore, so it was turned back into a dining room!

Super Short Sneak Peek!

Daniel busted hard today (well, he has every day), and while there’s still a lot to do, I DO have a working toilet and shower!! The vanity needs to be installed and some little things need to be done, but it is good enough for a sneak peek. You ready?

Look at the dust on that mirror!

He truly has done a beautiful job and oh how I wish you could see the floor! It’s gorgeous but covered in grout right now, so that will have to wait. This picture is SUPER staged, because there is a ton of work that needs to be done and that curtain rod is NOT in the right place, but I do not even care. I couldn’t wait to share it!

Sneak Peek!

When I got home last night, Hubbin had assembled the new vanity. I ordered different hardware than it came with because I wasn’t wild about the pulls.

sink

These match the kitchen and I LOVE them. I also completely love the way the sink is. It’s not totally finished – obviously the drain isn’t put in and also because it’s sitting in our living room, but I am getting really excited! Yesterday I ran to TJ Maxx and grabbed a new shower curtain rod, hooks, a liner, and a decorative cup and soap dispenser, and then to Lowe’s to get a new light fixture and Satin Nickel spray paint.

You see, we have these awful sconces in the bathroom right now, and Hubbin wants to keep them only because they also have electrical outlets on them. I could notreally care either way, but we do only have one other outlet in the entire bathroom, so I didn’t fight him on that. I wasn’t having dark sconces though, so I spray painted them. I figured the worst it could do would be to ruin them, and then I’d get new pretty ones anyway. Seemed like a win-win for me. It’s not great, but it’s not as bad as it could be. I need to pain and then decide. It’s hard to tell the way it is now.
