Office Rug

Hey y’all! I posted this on my Facebook but I figured I’d elaborate.

It took me months to pick out the gray for the walls (Stonington Gray by Benjamin Moore), and nearly as long to pick out the rug. Hubbin asked me how many rugs we were going to buy until I screeched “AS MANY AS IT TAKES TO GET THE RIGHT ONE, OK?!” because I am a loving and graceful wife. Grays are so hard to match – I really feel like picking out paint colors shouldn’t be this hard, but it is. Since the gray is such a low toned gray, I didn’t want a dark rug to go with it.

So I finally settled on this one:

I don’t get referral links because no one cares about me, but if you’re interested, it’s the Safavieh Indoor/ Outdoor Amherst Beige/ Light Grey Rug from Overstock. Wayfair carries it as well, but it was cheaper with Overstock (and they refunded me the difference when they knocked it down by $50 two days after I bought it). It shipped relatively quickly and made it without a mark on it (which will likely be short lived, since my kids seem hell bent on destroying everything I ever buy).

The Desks Are In…

Sheesh, y’all, I have waited for this day…wow. Long time. As you know, Hubbin’s dad is a woodworking extraordinaire, and I had him custom build desks for the-room-that-just-whatever (it was a dining room, then an office, then a dining room, then a play room, and now it is turning back into an office). So, I asked Hubbin’s dad to custom build identical desks because I can live in total chaos as long as it is symmetrical. THERE MUST BE SYMMETRY IN MY WORLD OR MAMA WILL FALL APART.

Anyway, So at last post, I’d painted the living room a very, very light shade of gray. Today, Hubbin’s dad delivered the desks. And oh…guys. He does such beautiful work. I kind of picture it like this, but without the sad ending and drugs and swearing and all the dead people:

I tend to want to wait to post until it’s all done, but that is really boring and no one else on Earth does that. So, ignore the curtains that aren’t going to stay, the rug that will be replaced, the thing in front of the window that’s going up to my room, and a million other things. And know that there are lots of decorations coming and they are going to be beautiful. But for now, just look at the beautiful work. It is exactly how I pictured it, and Irvin (Hubbin’s father) nails it EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I have lost my mind

…and y’all, there wasn’t much there to begin with.

I worked today, which included inviting a friend to go shopping with me during lunch and then realizing I forgot my entire wallet, so that was nice. And then a major database failure that required restoring from backup and a total bailout from the old boss that I terrorized, poor woman. And then I came home and changed and painted the entire dining room or office or whatever it is right now.

Grumpy Toddler is now fluent in Spanish, thanks to three hours of YouTube, and I’m pretty sure she may have called me a really bad word (ok, not really, but it’s SO within the realm of possibility – Daddy is at Bible Study and we just lose our minds when Daddy is gone), and The Oldest One has been talking for at least four minutes and I have no idea what she just said. I slept two whole hours last night and woke up singing I’m Too Sexy and I THINK IT MAY BE TIME FOR ANOTHER PINTEREST INTERVENTION, Y’ALL.

The Office Again. Y’all, I can’t even…

Ok so there have been no renovations since The Bathroom of 2014, and pretty much just Jesus posts, because that bathroom reno made me REALLY NEED JESUS. It has been SEVEN MONTHS since that renovation and I have needed SEVEN MONTHS OF JESUS to undo what it did to my psyche. And also, it’s still not done. I mean, it’s done in that it works and it’s pretty, but it’s not blog-worthy done. But the time has come that I have no choice but to renovate something. And this massive palace is a whopping 1,248 square feet, so you’ll be shocked to hear that it’s a re-renovation of a room we have already done. Twice. But at least it’s not the living room again, amiright?

So once upon a time I had a dining room that we really just used for show, let’s just be honest here. And feel free to click here to see that monstrosity. When I took a job working from home, that room was transformed into my home office. That project was my first ever renovation and was actually what made me start this blog. When I quit that job, though, I didn’t want to see the office anymore, so it was turned back into a dining room!
